Hello there, and welcome to our blog dedicated to the latest and greatest releases from Sideshow Collectibles! Lets get things rolling with a little about the history of Sideshow and their superb collectible items.
The Sideshow Collectibles company have cemented their place in the higher echelons of collectible memorabilia since their birth all the way back in 1994. Specifically manufacturing high quality licensed items, their catalogue has grown to be both highly respected and comprehensive, boasting some extremely attractive pieces taken from myriad icons of genre TV and Film, comics and more.
Well known for the extravagant quality of their items, it is easy to see in each piece that they are sculpted by people who are well versed in the characters they are depicting. Where many lesser manufacturers will settle for a rough approximation of a character for their products, Sideshow always go that extra mile, and actually put the character themselves into each sculpt and every accessory. This is in turn reflected in the constant demand for their collectibles, which is strong right across their range. It isn't just figural pieces that they offer either- an excellent range of high-end movie prop replicas is also available, such as blasters and lightsabers from the STAR WARS movies.
An area in which the sculptors at Sideshow Collectibles excel is in facial likeness to their subjects. Their range of 12 inch Star wars dolls is a great example of this- the attention to detail in the facial features is astounding. For axample, take a look at their Princess Leia doll from the Heroes of the Rebellion range of Star wars dolls. The recreation of the young Carrie Fisher is superb, every nuance of her face an eyes is impeccable. The same goes for her convincing hair, fabric costume and blaster, recreated just as they were seen in Episode IV: A New Hope. The finished doll is presented in a superb window-display box with a fold-out front piece and all the relevant accessories, as well as a sturdy display stand. The packaging is very impressive, which is the norm with Sideshow. Nigh on everything they produce is of such a high standard that their name has become a byword for excellence in the industry.
The recognition of Sideshow as a manufacturer of high regard isn't just a fanbase opinion- the company has been awarded 'Best of the Year' many times for their 12 inch figures and beautifully created polystone statues, awards which are very well deserved.
Many licenses are catered for by Sideshow Collectibles. Superior quality pieces have been made depicting characters from the Lord of the Rings, Marvel comics, Star Wars, James Bond, Aliens and Predator, Friday the 13th, SAW, Child's Play/Chucky, Universal Studios Classic Monsters, Terminator, Indiana Jones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the X-Files, World of Warcraft and many more.
It isn't just tie-in memorabilia that Sideshow have made their name with, though. They also produce their own original range of 12-inch collectible figures and accessories, including The Dead (lets hear it for the zombies!!!) and the beautifully made (not to mention historically accurate) brands Bayonets & Barbed Wire (based on elements from the first world war), Brotherhood of Arms (covering the American Civil War) and Six Gun Legends (famous- and infamous- western characters).
Sideshow Collectibles' items are currently sold specifically in speciality shops the world over and in some great online Movie/TV & Comics collectibles stores, and their ranges have found a very special place in the hearts and minds, not to mention the shelves, of fans everywhere
